Adventure and exploration has always been part of my life whether it was bushwhacking new trails in the forest behind my boyhood home or taking vacations through the western US or parts of Europe. Galen Rowell was my guide and I dreamed of a life like his – either scaling new routes on remote mountain peaks, trekking the Sierra Nevada in California or hiking the wilds of Alaska.
I have shot various Nikon cameras since high school and in 2008 I joined the masses with the purchase of a digital Nikon D80. As I started to get more serious about digital photography and color corrections I purchased a more powerful camera, shot my images in RAW and invested in an iMac complete with Lightroom and Photoshop.
I use all of the tools at my disposal in those programs but try not to “over process” the images too much. My images appear mostly as I saw them with only slight enhancements to color, clarity, contrast and sharpness and thus used to gain more accuracy as to what my eye had seen. I’m still learning this craft so hope to keep my alterations under control.
I’m not going to bore you with my deep introspective thoughts and insights as to why I do what I do. I just like to explore, see new locations (some old, some new) and shoot images as best I can. With that I hope to capture images worth sharing. Hope you like what you see.
